Lattice Joins ASI SIG, Will Support Advanced Switching Interconnect StandardLattice extends PCI Express support with endorsement of emerging interconnect standard for communication, storage, server and embedded platforms HILLSBORO, OR - July 9, 2004 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced it has joined the Advanced Switching Interconnect Special Interest Group (ASI SIG) and will develop products for the emerging backplane interconnect standard. ASI is a standards-based, switched-interconnect and data-fabric architecture based on PCI Express™ technology for connecting system boards and components in future generations of communications, storage, server and embedded platforms. ASI offers developers a broad array of advanced communications features that traditionally have required costly, time-consuming proprietary solutions. "The market for serial backplane transceivers is growing at an accelerating rate. Until now, systems companies have used XAUI or proprietary architectures for high-speed system backplanes. Advanced Switching Interconnect is significant because it utilizes the existing software infrastructure developed for the PCI standard, while increasing the system throughput and performance gained with the PCI Express architecture," said Stan Kopec, Lattice vice president of corporate marketing.
