Hyundai Announces ARM7[tm] Thumb RISC Core-Based Highly-Integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) Microprocessor and Embedded Flash Microcontroller Family Product line up as GMS30C7201, HMS30C7202, HMS39C7092 and so on
The HMS39C70XX family provides embedded flash memory with an ARM7 Thumb core-based microcontroller for low-cost, low-power, high-performance applications such as optical storage, point-of-sale terminals, office machines, printers and various digital consumer products. The HMS39C7064, HMS39C7092, and HMS39C70256 each feature an embedded flash memory of 64K bytes, 192K bytes and 256K bytes with 4K bytes SRAM, external memory controller, power management, eight external interrupts, 11 internal interrupts, six-channel 16-bit general purpose timers, two-channel SIO (UARTs), five-channel, 10-bit ADC, eight-bit watch dog timer and programmable input/output (PIO) up to 81 pins in a 100LQFP package. "The HMS30C7202 is the latest member of Hyundai Electronics' 32-bit integrated processor product family, and is the ideal solution for many post-PC applications such as smart phones, Internet appliances, PDAs and digital music players," said Daniel D. Lee, general manager and director of sales and marketing for the System IC Standard Product Division at Hyundai Electronics America. "These consumer products require the optimal balance of performance, integration, cost and power consumption. Just like our existing product GMS30C7201, HMS30C7202 offers the best price/performance ratio in this product category. The HMS39C70XX embedded flash microcontroller family provides low-cost, highly integrated features for many embedded systems that require embedded flash and ARM7 core-based microcontrollers." "The HMS30C7202's combination of advanced system architecture, latest 0.25-micron process technology and sophisticated on-chip power management results in a chip that will deliver long battery life to a new generation of mobile Internet-enabled devices," said Jay Chae, director of CPU/MCU development at Hyundai Electronics Industries in Korea. "Hyundai has a world-class reputation for delivering cost-efficient, highly-integrated electronic devices," said Eric Carpenter, director, Strategic Platforms, ARM. "The introduction of these innovative new microcontrollers will help continue the momentum of the ARM architecture in the consumer entertainment market, driving ARM Powered® designs in applications ranging from PDAs and Internet-enabled appliances to printers and digital cameras." "As the number of Windows CE 3.0-based devices continues to grow, it is important that processors keep up with the demand for performance while maintaining their low-power operation," said Keith White, senior director of marketing for the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corporation. "With the introduction of the HMS30C7202, Hyundai Electronics has demonstrated its understanding of the processor requirements for Internet appliances, and is delivering a product that will power a wide range of Windows CE-based smart devices that enable new networking and multimedia applications." General sampling of the HMS30C7202 device will begin in the second quarter of 2001, with mass production scheduled for the third quarter of 2001. Development systems, device drivers and sample code documentation will be available in April 2001. General sampling of the HMS39C70XX is available later this month, with mass production scheduled for the second quarter of 2001. Pricing and availability For pricing, please contact Daniel D.
