Elixent appoints VP of Worldwide Sales to expand customer baseBristol, England, September 22, 2004: Elixent, the leader in reconfigurable semiconductor IP, has appointed Charlie Cump to the newly-created position of VP of Worldwide Sales. Cump has extensive sales and management experience and will be responsible for expanding Elixent’s customer base. He will be based in Silicon Valley. Elixent's goal in Japan is to be the leading supplier of reconfigurable technology. This is an area of significant interest as the technology is designed to meet the challenges of creating high-volume consumer electronic devices on advanced silicon processes at 90nm, 65nm and below. The company is working closely with several Japanese consumer electronics giants, such as Toshiba, and has attained credibility in Japan with the local suppliers. Cump's appointment is part of the ongoing expansion of Elixent's global sales operations. He will be directly responsible for sales in Japan and joins the existing strong team, including the VP of Customer Engineering, Andy Elms, who is responsible for support operations in Japan. "Charlie's brief is to broaden our customer base beyond our current tier one licensees. His appointment allows us to offer our award-winning reconfigurable technology beyond the major silicon vendors who form our current customer base," said Kenn Lamb, Elixent CEO. “It’s important that as we continue to grow we maintain our current high standard of customer support and satisfaction – Charlie will ensure that happens.” Previously, Cump was co-founder and VP of Sales for six years at Chameleon Systems, the Silicon Valley-based reconfigurable IC Company, and has held sales positions at semiconductor companies AMCC and Vitesse. In addition, he has EDA experience at IKOS, Sunrise Test Systems and Avant! and so brings a wealth of very relevant experience and knowledge to Elixent. Cump has over 30 years’ experience in the high-tech electronics industry, 18 as VP of Sales, and holds a BSc. in chemistry from the University of California at Davis. About Elixent Elixent is the leader in reconfigurable semiconductor IP, a technology that provides users with the ability to change the function of a chip even whilst in use. D-Fabrix, the company’s patented reconfigurable algorithm processing (RAP) technology, provides ASIC designers with a flexible alternative to fixed function chips but without consuming the level of power normally associated with programmable technologies. This combination is of particular benefit to companies producing electronic products for imaging and communications applications in consumer and industrial markets. The low power consumption makes D-Fabrix particularly attractive for mobile and battery powered products. Visit http://www.elixent.com for more information.
