QualCore Logic Builds Strong Analog Design Team in India and California
More Than 30 Design Projects Tackled in 12-Month Period, Expanded Analog IP Portfolio to 400
Sunnyvale, Calif., December 7, 2004 –– QualCore Logic, an intellectual property (IP) and full-service, mixed-signal application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) realization company, today said it has expanded its analog expertise by hiring 50 engineers over the past year. The team, which now totals more than 60 analog engineers, is split between a design center in Hyderabad, India, and the QualCore Logic design center and corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif. Expected to expand to 100 in 2005, it complements an existing digital design team. QualCore Logic now employs 150 engineers. The analog engineers have completed more than 30 analog and mixed-signal designs in 2004 and increased the QualCore Logic analog and mixed-signal IP and special I/O portfolio to more than 400 cores. QualCore Logic also announced today that it has added two new IP cores to its product portfolio (see accompanying news release). The first is a digital Serial ATA interface core. The second is an analog dual 170 MHz SerDes for SXGA/SXGA+/UXGA application that utilizes a Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) I/O. This core is used for flat panel displays in laptop computers. Both have taped out and have been implemented in silicon. Building an Experienced Analog Team QualCore Logic today boasts comprehensive analog, digital and mixed-signal design capabilities. It began strengthening its analog and mixed-signal silicon IP expertise in 2003 when it acquired all of the analog and mixed-signal IP and the experienced analog engineering team of LEDA Systems Inc. of Plano, Texas. The analog design team was relocated to the Sunnyvale headquarters, and QualCore Logic began hiring designers to strengthen and expand its analog design team in the U.S. and India. Over the past year, the more than 30 mixed-signal designs produced by these engineers include PCI Express and DDR3 cores implemented in 130 and 90 nanometer process technologies. Since the U.S. and India team jointly work on projects, QualCore Logic regularly rotates design and layout engineers from India to the U.S. for a six-month period to grow a cohesive team and strengthen the analog expertise of the India team. “The market for analog IP is growing quickly because every design today includes an analog component,” says Mahendra Jain, president and CEO of QualCore Logic, who adds that analog is still a highly specialized discipline. “We now have more than 50 experienced analog engineers in India developing leading-edge IP that’s part of an experienced and well-qualified team now able to attack customer problems globally.” Since it was founded in 1994, QualCore Logic has built a reputation for offering a full complement of design services, from register transfer level (RTL) code development to fully verified GDSII, including. In addition to these services, design teams take advantage of its broad portfolio of analog and digital IP blocks that target technology processes of leading foundries. About QualCore Logic Founded in 1994, QualCore Logic is a leading provider of digital, mixed-signal and analog IP for system-on-chip (SoC) designs. It can take an engineering or register transfer level (RTL) specification to GDSII through final silicon. It operates design and support centers in Sunnyvale, Calif., and Hyderabad, India, with more than 150 design engineers.
