• TSMC Prosecutes Ex-Employee for Leaking Secrets (Thursday May. 04, 2017)
  Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest chip foundry, said it is prosecuting a former employee for leaking intellectual property in its second such case in the past five years.
  
  
• Neurala Patents "Whole Brain" Approach to AI, the Basis of the Next Generation of AI (Wednesday Apr. 26, 2017)
  A new patent for “whole brain” systems for autonomous robotic control has been issued by the U.S. Patent Office to Neurala, the software company that invented The Neurala Brain, a deep learning neural networks platform. This new invention will enable AI to function more like a human brain because it integrates multiple brain areas.

• BrainChip Advances its Position as a Leading Artificial Intelligence Provider with an Exclusive License for Next-Generation Neural Network Technology (Tuesday Mar. 21, 2017)
  Today, BrainChip announced that it has signed an agreement with French-based technology transfer company Toulouse Tech Transfer, to license the exclusive rights to the JAST learning rules and algorithms developed by CERCO (Brain and Cognition Research Center), a preeminent public research lab based in Toulouse, France.

  MPEG LA, LLC today announced that several patent owners in MPEG LA’s AVC Patent Portfolio License have filed patent enforcement actions in the Landgericht Düsseldorf, Germany against ZTE Deutschland GmbH (“ZTE”) for infringing patents essential to the AVC/H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10) digital video coding standard used in mobile devices and other products.

• Korea Fines Qualcomm Nearly $1B (Thursday Dec. 29, 2016)
  The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) fined Qualcomm 1.03 trillion won (nearly US$1 billion), charging unfair patent licensing practices. Qualcomm said it will appeal what it called “an unprecedented and insupportable decision relating to licensing practices that have been in existence in Korea and worldwide for decades.”
  
  
• Synopsys Obtains Injunction in Copyright Suit Against ATopTech (Thursday Dec. 22, 2016)
  Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS) today announced that a California Federal District Court has issued a permanent injunction against ATopTech and in favor of Synopsys. The injunction prohibits ATopTech from developing, using, selling, offering to sell, licensing or distributing any product containing PrimeTime report formats or certain PrimeTime non-SDC commands, variables or attributes.
  
  
• Jury Awards Core Wireless $7.3 Million in Patent Litigation Against Apple (Friday Dec. 16, 2016)
  A jury in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California has awarded Core Wireless Licensing, a subsidiary of Conversant Intellectual Property Management Inc., $7.3 million in damages after finding that Apple, Inc. infringed two smartphone patents owned by Core Wireless.
  
  
• WiLAN Subsidiary Acquires Patent Portfolio from GLOBALFOUNDRIES (Tuesday Dec. 13, 2016)
  WiLAN today announced that the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Auriga Innovations, Inc., has acquired a portfolio of patents from GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. The portfolio covers semiconductor process technologies used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices.

• Qualcomm Signs 3G/4G China Patent License Agreement with vivo (Monday Aug. 08, 2016)
  Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that it has entered into a new 3G and 4G Chinese Patent License Agreement with vivo Communication Technology Co., Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement, Qualcomm has granted vivo a royalty-bearing patent license to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA and CDMA2000 and 4G LTE (including "3-mode" GSM, TD-SCDMA and LTE-TDD) complete devices for use in China.

• Innovium and Broadcom Settle Legal Dispute (Wednesday Jun. 01, 2016)
  Innovium, Inc. today announced that it has settled all outstanding litigation with Broadcom Limited. As part of the settlement agreement, the companies agreed to dismiss all litigation between the parties. Other terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
