VaST Systems Technology and Wipro Limited Join Forces; Demand for VaST products drives collaboration
SUNNYVALE, California, May 19, 2006 -- VaST Systems Technology Corporation—powering embedded design innovation—and Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), today announced that Wipro has become a certified development partner of VaST peripheral models.
VaST’s ultra-fast and accurate peripheral, processor and bus models--coupled with VaST’s CoMETTM and METeor TM tools--provide a systems engineering environment for the design of embedded systems and system-on-chip (SoC). With VaST solutions, users create, then simulate, analyze and optimize a model of their SoC in software, which results in an optimized architecture and a fast and accurate platform for software developers to use months before the actual hardware is available.
“We see a very large future for embedded systems and the methods and tools that support their development. VaST has the leading technology in the virtual system prototyping area and this is one of the few proven methodologies for the development of complex, multi-core SoCs,” said Siby Abraham, vice president, semiconductor and consumer electronics vertical of Wipro Technologies.
“Wipro is the world’s largest independent R&D company, but more important to VaST is Wipro’s focus on quality. They were the first SEI CMM/CMMI level 5 services company and are also ISO 9000 certified. Important too is Wipro’s strong presence in Japan, where they have operated since 1995. Japan is a very important market for VaST and one that we see expanding rapidly in the next few years,” commented Alain Labat, VaST president and CEO.
Wipro will serve as an extended R&D facility for the rapid creation of VaST peripheral models such as UARTs, memory and other controllers, including ARM Prime Cells. “The demand for VaST peripherals is growing very rapidly,” said “Rob Bedichek, VaST vice president of engineering. “With Wipro on board we will be able to meet our customer’s needs more quickly and with very high quality models.”
