Elliptic Extends Industry Leadership in NIST Validation
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
Ottawa, Canada, April 17, 2007 - Security IP provider Elliptic today announced that its Ellipsys software has passed the Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Suite defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This validation comes two months after the certification of Elliptic hardware cores and further extends Elliptic's industry leadership in NIST validation of its products.
Ellipsys is divided into two different libraries which can be licensed separately or together as a bundle. The ESS-01 offers symmetric algorithms that are used in most modern cryptographic solutions including:
- AES
- DES/3DES
- Kasumi
- SEED
- SHA-1 through SHA-512
- MD5
The asymmetric library - the ESS-02, offers a complete set of functions for signature generation and verification as well as RSA key generation, encryption and decryption. The ESS-02 offers library function compliant to the PKCS #1 reference implementation with support for both the v1.5 (IETF RFC2437) and v2.1 (IETF RFC3447) algorithms including:
- RSA Encryption and Decryption
- RSA Key Generation
- Signature and Verification
- ASN.1 encoding and decoding of keys and data
"Our customers have emphasized the need for NIST validation across the entire portfolio of products we offer." said Al Hawtin, VP of Marketing and Business Development. "By extending the NIST certification we received for our hardware cores to encompass Ellipsys software, we can offer our customers a complete solution that has been rigorously validated by an independent third party lab."
