Actel's New Core1553 Development Kit Gives Access to MIL-STD-1553B Bus Evaluation System Based on Fusion Mixed Signal FPGAs
New Development Kit Features Actel's Flight Proven Core1553BRM IP Core
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 12, 2010 — Continuing to lead the military and aerospace FPGA market, Actel Corporation today announced the new Core1553 Development Kit, providing customers with a self-contained benchtop 1553 bus development system. This new up-to-date development kit provides Actel's military and aerospace customers with an easy to use kit enabling development and testing of MIL-STD-1553B development using Actel's flight-heritage proven Core1553BRM IP core.
"Actel has always placed a heavy emphasis on enabling our military and aerospace customers to complete their designs and move to flight hardware as quickly and efficiently as possible," said Ken O'Neill, Actel's director of high reliability product marketing. "As the MIL-STD-1553B standard has moved beyond military avionics into a wide variety of surface, air and space systems, more and more developers find they require flexible benchtop development and test resources. The new Core1553 Developer's Kit takes advantage of the ease-of-use and reprogrammability of Actel's flash-based Fusion mixed signal FPGAs to make MIL-STD-1553B system designers' lives much easier."
The Core1553 Development Kit consists of a Fusion Advanced Development Kit board and a Core1553 Daughter Card, allowing users to exercise the functionality of Actel's Core1553BRM without having to create a complete MIL-STD-1553B-compliant system. Designers using the Core1553BRM source files included in the kit can implement two complete Core1553BRM cores into a single M1AFS1500 FPGA, and evaluate the bus controller, remote terminal and bus monitor (monitor terminal) functions of the 1553B core, all compliant with MIL-STD-1553B and associated international specifications. The design also allows monitoring of 1553B bus activity using Actel Silicon Explorer II hardware or the customer's logic analyzer.
Core1553 Daughter Card Features:
- MIL-STD-1553B transceiver with dual transformers and concentric twinax connectors, providing MIL-C-49142 compliant connectivity
- Designers can evaluate and develop medium speed on-board data communications bus solutions for MIL-STD-1553B / UK DEF-STAN 00-18 (Pt.2) / NATO STANAG 3838 AVS / Avionic Standards Coordinating Committee Air-Std 50/2
Pricing and Availability
The Core1553 Development Kit, part number CORE1553-DEV-KIT, is available today for US $3620 at www.actel.com and through Actel's worldwide sales team. The Core1553BRM core is licensed separately and is not included in the kit.
