SiliconBlue's New iCEcube2 Development Tool Enables the Creation of Breakthrough Innovative Functions That Compliment Mobile Chipsets
Update: Lattice Semiconductor to Acquire SiliconBlue (Dec 09, 2011)
Synopsys Partnership Provides Stable, High-Performance, and Easy-to-Use Development Tool Platform
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- June 15, 2010 -- SiliconBlue® Technologies, the leader in ultra-low power, single-chip, high-density SRAM mobileFPGA™ devices, today announced the production availability of its new iCEcube2™ EDA development tool. The new tool is a result of SiliconBlue’s development partnership with Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), bringing the stable, robust FPGA synthesis of Synplify Pro® software to mobile designers, many of whom have never experienced the benefits of FPGAs before and seek an easy-to-use solution.
Oftentimes, designers face a barrier when trying to implement new innovative features, such as simultaneous dual video displays or condition-based behavior using I2C sensors, with standard mobile application processors and chipsets. SiliconBlue’s new iCEcube2 development tool makes it easy for designers to use iCE65™ mobileFPGA devices to overcome this barrier by designing custom functions that compliment these standard devices, ultimately enabling new features to be implemented easily and on-time.
In addition, the iCEcube2 development tool brings significant improvement in performance and utilization results over previous SiliconBlue EDA tools. Testing shows that ~70% of designs will see performance improvement. Furthermore, the performance improvement on average is 30%. These results mean that users can achieve their device utilization and performance targets quickly and easily, helping them to meet their project schedules.
“Each customer I visit has multiple new feature ideas for handsets,” said Kapil Shankar, CEO of SiliconBlue Technologies. “With these new iCEcube2 development tools, they can now easily use our iCE65 mobileFPGA devices to implement their ideas and create innovative new products.”
Availability
The iCEcube2 development tool is available for download now from SiliconBlue’s website (www.siliconbluetech.com). Support for Windows or Linux operating systems is available. Please refer to www.siliconbluetech.com for more information. 90-day evaluation licenses are available upon request. Full 1-year licenses are available for $1980.
