Tektronix Communications Completes Strategic Acquisition of Newfield Wireless
Mobile network optimization acquisition delivers subscriber and network based intelligence to complement Tektronix Communications' probe-based intelligence
PLANO, TEXAS -- Dec. 23, 2013 -- Tektronix Communications, the world's leading Telecoms Intelligence Provider, announced today that it has acquired Newfield Wireless, a privately held pioneer in next-generation mobile network optimization with geoanalytics intelligence.
Within the mobile network, the Radio Access Network (RAN) portion includes thousands of wireless cell towers deployed across vast geographies. Good management of the RAN assures quality performance to subscribers but historically has been very costly to the mobile network operator (MNO). A better, more affordable approach to optimizing the RAN is a key technical and financial differentiation for MNOs.
Newfield Wireless brings a rich layer of geoanalytics and visualization tools for the RAN, enabling MNOs to dynamically pinpoint issues at the subscriber and network level in real-time across 2G, 3G and 4G networks. Unmatched in RF planning and network optimization for LTE networks, Newfield's solutions deliver a full range of capabilities to support critical decisions in engineering, operations, sales and marketing, regulatory compliance and reporting. When combined with Tektronix Communications' probe-based network monitoring solution, the MNOs can affordably centralize end-to-end management and visibility of their mobile network, from subscriber to the data center.
"Newfield Wireless's RAN optimization products, services and expertise will combine with our own solutions to benefit service providers in two ways. One is the ability to assure customer experience across the entire mobile network down to the geolocated device. The other is an enhanced ability to provide new value-add data feeds into numerous departments - from operations to customer care to business audiences at any given service provider," commented Lyn Cantor, President, Tektronix Communications. "We are pleased to welcome Newfield Wireless and are excited about the opportunities this will offer our customers."
"This is a natural fit," said Newfield Wireless CEO Marc Bensadoun. "We will continue to innovate in mobile network optimization while also being part of one of the world's most respected leaders in telecoms network intelligence."
The Newfield Wireless team will continue to operate out of its headquarters in Berkeley, Calif.
