Logicircuit Offers First "Safe IP" Subscription Model
Expanding beyond avionics, Logicircuit makes IP cores, developed with DO-254 DAL A assurance, available to all safety critical markets, via a low-priced annual subscription.
LPHARETTA, GA -- February 23, 2015 -- Logicircuit, a leading DO-254 and DO-178C services company, today announced subscription access to the company’s Safe IP catalog. The Safe IP catalog contains the industry’s most extensive set of DO-254 certifiable intellectual property (IP) cores. Available March 1, 2015, the subscription model provides simple, affordable, and expanded access to the entire IP catalog.
Logicircuit has been developing the Safe IP catalog over the last five years, previously selling each IP as it became available, at an ala carte price. The subscription model allows access to all IP in the catalog, at one low annual rate, which can be charged to a company’s operating expenses as opposed to specific project budgets. This model is similar to the way companies purchase design tools (such as simulators or schematic capture tools) or other resources that are economically shared at the corporate or division level across many programs. In this way, numerous programs and designs within a company can efficiently access and leverage the same IP resources, knowing they are “safe” to use in even the most critical designs.
Each core in the Safe IP catalog has undergone extensive review, analysis, testing, control, and has undergone the necessary modifications to meet the stringent safety standard for airborne electronic hardware, DO-254. Logicircuit, in conjunction with Patmos Engineering, Xilinx, and other partners such as Great River Technology and Zipcores, pioneered this new methodology for delivering compliant and reusable IP for the avionics market. All IP in the catalog have been used in programs that have undergone certification. Other market segments have similar certification standards requiring design assurance for electronics. Thus, Safe IP may be equally suitable for the medical (IEC 62304), automotive (ISO 26262), industrial (IEC 61508), nuclear, or any other electronics segment requiring safety-critical design.
“The need for IP design assurance is growing across a multitude of fields,” said Joe Goode, President of Logicircuit, Inc. “At Logicircuit, we are excited to offer a new business model that puts a library of IP, which has been proven safe to use in the most critical design assurance programs, in the hands of each engineer, at a price point that is attractive to decision makers.”
The Safe IP catalog today supports Xilinx FPGAs and is headlined by the Xilinx MicroBlaze™ soft processor. The catalog includes a number of commonly used peripherals along with interfaces such as SPI, UART, I2C, ARINC 429 and ARINC 818. Logicircuit also continues to grow the Safe IP catalog, adding popular cores like AFDX, Mil-Std 1553, and Ethernet in 2015, and increasing the subscription value over time. New IP are made available and added to the catalog via customer demand. Upon completion, each new IP is immediately accessible to subscribers at no extra charge. For more information, an FAQ is available now on the Logicircuit website.
