Agere Systems Meets Quality, Development Time with LogicVision's Embedded Test
Test objectives achieved on 11 milion gate, 140 nanometer SoC
San Jose, Calif. - April 16, 2003 - LogicVision, Inc., (NASDAQ:LGVN), a leading provider of embedded test for integrated circuits and systems today announced that Agere Systems (NYSE:AGR.A, AGR.B) has successfully completed an 11 million gate system-on-a-chip (SoC) that contains LogicVision's embedded test structures. The LogicVision technology detects new types of defects associated with advanced processes, helping Agere to continue to achieve its quality and time to market objectives. During the chip design phase of development, Agere utilized LogicVision's hierarchical architecture to efficiently integrate test controllers with the 200 clock domains in the functional logic. At-speed verification of first samples was completed with the newly purchased LogicVision Validator system in less than one day.
The Agere MARS Universal framer IC is the industry's most integrated, full-featured and versatile framer for multi-service metro and access networks scalable from rates of 155 megabits per second to 10 gigabits per second. The chip is comprised of 11 million gates, multiple high-speed interfaces and several hundred clock domains with a system clock speed of 155 MHz. The design was implemented in Agere's 140 nanometer silicon process. Using the fully integrated LogicVision flow that extends from design through prototype debug and production test setup, Agere plans to achieve dramatic improvement in total development time. In addition, LogicVision's embedded test has become part of Agere's standard ASIC SoC design flow.
"Last June, we stated our intent to widely deploy LogicVision's embedded test to help us achieve our quality, time-to-market, and cost objectives," said Don Friedberg, director of design methodologies for Agere Systems. "The handoff from design to test eliminated time-consuming pattern translation, compilation, and debug tasks, enabling us to deliver high quality prototypes within a very short interval."
"We are committed to enabling Agere to make a smooth transition to full adoption of LogicVision's solution," said Mukesh Mowji, LogicVision's vice president of sales and marketing. "We believe that our product offerings are a good match to Agere's needs. This result is further proof of the acceptance we are gaining in the semiconductor industry."
