Virage Logic Expands Executive Team

FREMONT, Calif., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Virage Logic Corp. (Nasdaq: VIRL), a leader in embedded memory solutions, today announced the appointment of Eduard R. Weichselbaumer to the newly created position of vice president of strategic programs.

The adoption of deep submicron processes and the development of new System-on-Chips (SoCs) that require increasing amounts of embedded memory have spurred increasing growth for Virage Logic. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by Gartner, not only did the overall semiconductor IP market grow faster than the general semiconductor market in the year 2000, Virage Logic was the second fastest growing semiconductor IP company. In order to capitalize on the growth opportunities, Virage Logic has tapped Weichselbaumer to drive key strategic programs that will allow the company to expand into new market opportunities.

Weichselbaumer, who reports to Virage Logic CEO Adam Kablanian, is responsible for driving strategic programs in new markets that will accelerate the company's growth. Weichselbaumer brings to his new post 22 years of sales and management experience spanning industry start-ups to higher profile companies. Immediately prior to joining Virage Logic, he was vice president of worldwide sales for Artisan Components.

Before joining Artisan, Weichselbaumer was director of business development/sales for Synopsys' silicon libraries group from January 1998 - December 1999. He also held positions at HHB Systems and LSI Logic in Europe. Weichselbaumer holds a masters degree in Electronic Engineering from Technical University in Munich, Germany.
