WiGig Wireless Display Codec
The Wireless Gigabit Alliance (a.k.a. WiGig) is an organization promoting the adoption of multi-gigabit speed wireless communications technology operating over the unlicensed 60 GHz frequency band.
The WiGig specification will enable high performance wireless data, display and audio applications that supplement the capabilities of today’s wireless LAN devices.
In particular, it provides the “WiGig Display Extension” (WDE) protocol adaptation layer that:
supports wireless transmission of audio/visual data,
enables wireless DisplayPort and other display interfaces that include the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection 2.1 feature,
offers key A/V applications, such as the transmission of visually lossless compressed video from a computer or digital camera to an HDTV monitor or projector.
