RDA Microelectronics today announced the launch of its RDA8860 WCDMA/EDGE/GSM baseband SoC for the low-cost smartphone market. (Thursday Mar. 27, 2014)
The RDA8860 integrates an RF transceiver, WCDMA modem, EDGE modem, application processor, power management unit, analog baseband, and 32kHz oscillator onto a single 40 nanometer die, significantly reducing the customer bill of materials. Built around a 1GHz ARM (R) Cortex (TM)-A5 processor with a 256KB L2 cache, the chip uses 400MHz 32-bit LPDDR2 memory, which supplies 3.2GB bandwidth to create a powerful platform for low-cost mobile devices.
